Read closely
Students learn to notice how a text works — its choices, structure and effect — before they write a word about it.
About
English education should develop confident communicators, thoughtful readers, analytical thinkers and expressive writers through personalised mentorship.
Our Story
The Elite Hub was founded in 2010 by Shabnam Khan, Head of the English Department (IBDP) at a leading international school, after years of teaching English across international curricula.
It began with a simple observation from the classroom: students rarely struggle with English because they lack ability. They struggle because they have never been shown how to read closely, think critically and write with intent — and because that guidance is difficult to give thirty students at once.
The Elite Hub exists to give that guidance properly: one student at a time, with the attention their thinking deserves.
Why We Exist
It is how students argue, persuade, imagine and are understood. Mentoring should treat it that way — not as a syllabus to be completed, but as a set of skills a student will carry into every room they enter.
Our Philosophy
Build confidence, curiosity, communication and lifelong learning.
Students learn to notice how a text works — its choices, structure and effect — before they write a word about it.
Interpretation is built through questioning, evidence and argument — not memorised readings.
Every paragraph should do work. Students learn to structure, refine and defend what they put on the page.
What Makes The Elite Hub Different
Every programme is led personally by an experienced international-curriculum educator, and built around the student in front of her.
Direct classroom experience across IBDP, Cambridge AS & A Levels, IGCSE and ICSE.
Mentoring shaped around each student’s starting point and goals.
Structure, argument and style, developed deliberately over time.
Detailed, personal responses to a student’s actual writing.
Independent interpretation, valued above rehearsed answers.
Senior teaching and departmental leadership experience.
Learning Built Around Every Student
No two students arrive with the same strengths. Mentoring is offered in the format that suits each of them.
Focused mentoring, entirely paced to the student.
Discussion and debate, with individual attention retained.
The same mentoring, whether in person or wherever the student is.
Excellence Redefined
Results matter, and they follow. But the students we are proudest of are the ones who leave able to think for themselves, and say precisely what they mean.
